For residential solar installations, historical electrical usage can be obtained from old electrical bills. However, for motorhomes, fifth wheels, and other non-residential applications this type of data does not exist. If you want to ensure your solar energy system is designed with precision, to keep the installation cost down, while meeting the electrical demand, we recommend installing a data logger.

DATA LOGGER - SELF INSTALLATION
If you have basic electrical skills you will have no problem installing the logger in your battery box. We can ship you a data logger anywhere in the country. The logger will come pre-programmed, so all you have to do is install it. The device is blue-tooth capable so if you would like to monitor the energy usage in real-time you may (see below).
DATA LOGGER - INSTALLED
If you are located in Michigan we can have a technician arrive to your location to install the data logger. Once the data logger is installed, we will need to capture a full cycle of normal RV usage.
RV NORMAL USAGE CYCLE
Designing the solar energy system that best meets your RV needs, requires obtaining an energy usage profile that bests represents your typical usage cycle. If you typically use your RV only on the weekends, we may only need to data log for one weekend. If you continuously use your RV, and every week the energy usage varies, we may want to data log for at least one month to obtain a weekly average and weekly peak usage cycle. As always with data logging, more data is preferred. The longer we can log data, the more accurate the system design will be. Installation of the most accurately designed system could save you up to 30% on installation costs!

The battery data logger is compatible with your mobile device. You can monitor your real-time battery usage at any time, and also ensure that the data is logging appropriately at any time.
ANALYZING YOUR ELECTRICAL ENERGY DEMAND
Once the data from the logger has been downloaded and saved, we will have the opportunity to plot and analyze all electrical power usage. By examining the total daily/weekly power usage, in addition to the time-of-day usage, we will be able to properly design the solar energy system for your specific needs. The data takes all of the guess work out of designing the correct solar energy system.
